No Guts No Decor Glory: The Patterned Wallpaper

posted on: Tuesday, 31 January 2012

I have to admit that patterned wallpapers make me a bit nervous. But here is a great example of a bold wallpaper that doesn't steal the show away from the furniture, the art and the other home accessories! They all blend together and create a wonderful, modern-with-a-hint-of-retro space!

DIY: Tom Binns Inspired Jewelry

posted on: Saturday, 28 January 2012

His neon jewelry are everywhere. They are featured in top fashion magazines, they are sold through high profile boutiques and Michelle Obama is a fan! Yes, it is Tom Binns, the Irish designer whose unique designs combine elegance with anti-conformist sentiment. And yes, prices for his jewelry start at around $1000... Heartbreaking I know. But here are the good news:You don't need to break your budget for a neon piece of jewelry. Just grab a cheap crystal pair of earrings which you can find at almost all high street stores, three or four bottles of colorful nailpolish and start creating a Tom Binns inspired gorgeous statement piece!

Eero Saarinen's Love List

posted on: Monday, 23 January 2012

Lists can be romantic. I'm sure that you'll agree with me after reading Eero Saarinen's (the famous architect and designer) handwritten list which he compiled 1954 and gave it to his new wife, Aline, as a romantic gesture. It's a 13-point breakdown of her best attributes which shows how a simple note can make a wonderful, memorable and - in some cases - historically valuable gift for your loved one.
I loved his last sentence the most (even though Saarinen didn't like it):
THAT THE MORE ONE DIGS THE FOUNDATIONS THE MORE AND MORE ONE FINDS THE SOLIDEST OF GRANIT FOR YOU AND I TO BUILD A LIFE TOGETHER UPON (I KNOW THIS IS NOT A GOOD SENTENCE).

...but it's not. The lucky CEO who enjoys this wonderful space is Eva Lorenzotti, the founder and CEO of Vivre.com. Lorenzotti celebrates a life of collecting, as opposed to one spent simply buying and her website reflects her wonderful, eclectic style. Eva travels around the world and finds amazing treasures to share with her clients and sells one of a kind limited edition items along known brands. If you haven't visited her website, have a look; I'm pretty sure it will end up among your favourites!
